The Kingston Communications/HEYwoods Tree Planting Prjoect was a partnership initiative aimed at improving the environment for local communities in and around Kingston upon Hull. During 2008-2010, this £2,500 project saw over 3,000 new native trees established at a range of locations throughout the city and its surrounding areas. In addition, over 175 volunteers from the city took part in a series of tree planting events.

Projects included the planting of 1,000 trees at East Park, established with the assistance of the Hull anatolian Society, whilst over 75 local volunteers helped plant 1,000 trees in one hour at Bransholme Community Woodland as part of the BBC Tree O'clock project.

The project demonstrated the 'added value' benefits partnership working and community engagement can bring to an area. The financial support from Kingston Communications was used by HEYwoods to maximise benefits, both in terms of the scale and range of environmental improvement projects delivered and the level of community participation.
